Judo ‘Tournoi Europeen’ Dunkirk, France 12th & 13th May 2007

By Laurie

What a great weekend in France. Our French hosts welcomed us and extended their hospitality to us as usual. We went to Dunkirk with one junior team and one senior team. Both teams fought well demonstrating good technique and etiquette. The junior team won a bronze medal, which is an excellent result as this was the first international for all the players in the team.
The seniors fought well but sustained two injuries midway through the tournament. Two players down in a five-man team at this level of competition make success all but impossible.
The Junior Team
Jordan Haughey, Liam Rowles, John Hisee, Tomi Borzak and Peter Vincent. (Coach Joe Williams)
The Senior Team
Richard McDonald, Craig Spence, Dave Clark, Ed Trudgell and Omar Asenguah.(Coach Brian Curran)

Midway through the day the tournament was stopped for a special training session for the Juniors. This was delivered by Frederique Jossinet who is a gold medallist in the world team championships and a silver medallist in the both the World Championships and the Olympics.
